Our story began on a warm Spring afternoon, on the 19th of April 2021 at a restaurant called Giraffe, in Southbank, London.
Ruchir and Shreeja met after being introduced by mutual family friends, when both were least expecting it and were rather reluctant to the very idea!
Ruchir took two weeks to muster the courage to make the first move, and eventually messaged a daring ‘Hi’. After a month of talking on the phone, they agreed to meet when lockdown restrictions were eased.
Three and a half hours into their first date, they realised how similar they were as people and bonded immediately over their talent of laughing at one’s own lame jokes.
Since then, our favourite memories have included:
Fast-forward to 2 years later, Ruchir and Shreeja planned for a quick getaway to Paris for the weekend. Ruchir convinced Shreeja to dress-up bright and early at 7AM to take in the views near the Eiffel Tower. With the coffee machine not working, the convincing required a great deal of patience and resilience.
As they walked on the empty streets of Paris, they were approached by a tourist who kindly offered to take their photo. Little did Shreeja know that this was a set-up organised by Ruchir to orchestrate the perfect moment. Ruchir knelt on one knee and began asking the big question, ‘will you…’ Before he could even finish his speech, Shreeja was screaming ‘yes, yes, yes, yes, YES!’
